First edition of the European Joint Master’s Programme
Application Form deadline: no later than 2:00 p.m. on June 20, 2025. Participation is free.
Starting from the Academic Year 2025/2026, the European Joint Master’s Programme in Digital Society, Social Innovation and Global Citizenship (DIGISOC) will be active at the University of Naples Federico II.
DIGISOC is an initiative of 3 Awarding Universities – the University of Naples Federico II, the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck (Austria) and the Palacky University of Olomouc (Czech Republic) – which recognize the joint title with the support of 3 associated Partner Universities – the Pavla Jozefa Safarika V Kosiciach University (Slovakia), the University Lusòfona of Lisbon (Portugal) and the University Paris-Est Créteil (France).
Established at the Department of Social Sciences of the University Federico II, the new DIGISOC degree course is one of the actions of the EURIDICE Project, co-founded by the European Union and born within the AURORA Alliance.
DIGISOC – Digital Society, Social Innovation and Global Citizenship is a highly innovative, interdisciplinary and hybrid learning-based international study course, involving an international board composed of professors from European universities and various departments of the University Federico II, including the Departments of Architecture, Political Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities.
The aim of the master’s degree program is to train a new generation of highly qualified socio-digital innovators, capable of leading and managing digital transformation processes in different social contexts to respond to the challenges of contemporary society. Students will learn to design, develop, prototype and promote technologically valid, ethically based and socially impactful digital solutions, with particular reference to three areas of intervention: communication, culture and education. Graduates will acquire a complete set of skills that combine specialized technical knowledge with the ability to think critically and act ethically. This unique combination prepares professionals for a wide range of career paths in consulting, innovation and digital transformation, project and product management, research, as well as academic and leadership roles at national and international level in public, private and third sector organizations in these fields.
DIGISOC is the first European Joint Master’s Programme of the University of Naples Federico II and represents a unique initiative of its kind:
- an excellence-oriented, research-based, and highly interdisciplinary teaching programme;
- a diverse learning environment, innovative teaching methods, and international mobility;
- a joint transnational education, resulting in a joint degree and joint micro-credentials;
- a hybrid, seamless, collaborative and challenge-based educational environment.
Summer School and International Mobility
International mobility is a key feature of DIGISOC and its inter-university hybrid campus. Enrolling at DIGISOC means attending at least two onsite European Summer Schools throughout the duration of the study programme. DIGISOC Summer Schools offer unique opportunities to interact with renowned scholars and professionals in the field of socio-digital innovation, meet academic staff and students/peers from other countries and cultures, and develop specialised skills and intercultural and transferable competencies.
Collaboratorium and Hybrid Learning
A unique feature of DIGISOC is its Collaboratorium for Blended International Hybrid Learning, a new educational concept which combines onsite in-person interaction and collaboration, scaling possibilities of online teaching and student collaboration. The DIGISOC Collaboratorium is both a learning environment made of interoperable digital solutions and a phygital infrastructure (physical and digital), designed to empower students, enhance smooth collaboration in groups and create an associated sense of a learning community.
International Internship and Service Learning
At DIGISOC, students are required to carry out an Internship trough a social innovation project linked to the specialisation path chosen at the beginning of Year II. Although a list of possible projects will be available, students may come up with their own ideas. Alternatively, students may be involved in an International Service-Learning programme, that allow them to engage in organised service activities that address community needs, to get involved in practical learning experiences and cross-cultural interactions, to participate in regular reflection sessions, and to gain a deeper appreciation of global and intercultural issues.
